Wheat Grass Shots

wheatgrassjuice I had talked about ‘wheat grass juice’ here and I received few messages asking how to consume it. Good news is it’s pretty simple to juice it but kinda tacky to grow. Few months back, one of my dad’s old friends got to know about my dad’s health issues and suggested him to take wheat grass shots everyday. My mom made them faithfully every morning and my dad consumed it without any hesitation. To be honest, the taste is neutral, not sweet/sour/bitter. But we add lemon juice and honey to it which makes it tastier and most importantly healthier. What’s wheat grass and what are its health benefits? Read this or just google. It helped my dad in a way but I guess it’s our bad luck that we found out about this too late. But, we( my mom and me) started consuming it lately just because we had a huge supply and it reminded us of our dad. When I got the news of my dad, I was traumatized and was losing my hair at an alarming rate. As I started drinking this juice, I did notice  a huge difference and motivated me to drink it everyday. Now that I’m back in Chicago I tried to grow at home, not very successful yet. I was surprised to find this in the  fresh produce aisle at Jewel Osco and immediately grabbed it. This is how I made it. You just need a handful of wheatgrass. Put it in your blender or juicer, add around 1/4th cup of water and blend it until the juice is extracted. Now strain it using a strainer and drink it immediately. You may also add lemon juice and honey to it. wheatgrassshots I’m not an expert or a nutritionist, just sharing a health tip which worked well for me. If this helped you or your loved one in any way, please do let me know. Stay healthy, stay happy. Much love, Aish.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your father.

I have heard that Wheat Grass can be very good for you – I add powdered barley grass to my smoothies. I like the idea of using it fresh like this. Thank you for sharing with us at the Hearth and Soul Hop.
