- Whole wheat flour – 1 cup + 2 tbsp extra for dusting
- Egg- 1
- Milk- 1/4th cup
- Yeast- 1/4 tsp
- Sugar- 1 tsp
- Salt- a pinch
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Butter- to spread on the bun
- Add the yeast and sugar to lukewarm milk and let it froth.
- Mix flour and salt in a big bowl and add egg to it.
- Add yeast mixture to this and mix well until the dough comes together.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead well for 10 mins until the dough is soft and smooth.
- Place the dough ball in a oiled bowl and cover it with damp towel and let it proof for an hour.
- You will see the dough doubled in size, punch it down and shape them into balls.
- Make sure they are shaped evenly without even a single crack.
- Cover with damp towel and proof for 30 mins.
- Pre-heat the oven to 400 deg F.
- Bake the buns for 15 mins in the middle rack.
- Spread some butter over the buns and let it cool down for 15 mins before you slice it.
