{Garden To Plate Series} Peas and Corn Pulao.

IMG_3812 My dad was an avid gardener and I have acquired this hobby from him I guess. I love how it is helping me beat anxiety and depression. I do miss my dad a lot especially his tips and suggestions but for the most part it brings beautiful memories and relieves stress. To be honest, the only positive thing happening in my life right now is seeing these veggies grow. Growing your own veggies and fruits and cooking with those fresh produce is so much joyful. I’m lucky that the hubster is an avid gardener too. We enjoy gardening together and consider ourselves lucky to be sharing the same hobby.¬† Garden to plate series is all about cooking with homegrown veggies and sharing the recipe here. I don’t do meal planning these days. I just have to harvest the veggies and channel my inner domestic goddess. We harvested onions, corn, peas, cucumber and green chillies yesterday and I made ‘peas and corn pulao’ and ‘cucumber raita’ for lunch today. Here’s the recipe for corn and peas pulao. image1 (28) Ingredients¬† Basmati Rice- 1.5 cups( washed, drained and cooked) Onion- 2 small(sliced) Peas- 1/2 cup Corn- 1/2 cup Green chilli- 4 Oil- 3 tsp Spices you will need or you can use pulao masala Bay leaves- 2 Peppercorn- 1/4 tsp Cinnamon- 2 small strands Cardamon- 3 pods Cloves- 2 Salt – to taste METHOD
  1. Heat a pan and add oil to it. Add the spices and add onions and green chillis.
  2. Add peas and corn.Saute well. Add some salt and drizzle some water and close the lid and cook for 3-4 mins.
  3. Turn off the flame and add cooked basmati rice and gently mix until evenly combined.
  4. Serve with cucumber raita or any raita of your choice.
