- Heat 1/2 tsp oil on ‘saute’ mode. Add in other ingredients mentioned in ‘To roast and grind’. Fry for 2 minutes and transfer it into blender and grind it with some water into a smooth paste. keep it aside I love the aroma of this paste so much that it takes me to some kinda heaven. lol
- Meanwhile,( still in saute mode) add in 2 tsp oil/ghee to the innerpot and add mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves. Add in onions and fry until they are soft, add in radishes and fry for another few mins.
- Add in turmeric powder, red chili powder and sambar powder and mix well. Add in washed and drained toor dal and the ground masala.
- Click on ‘cancel’ and add in tamarind extract, salt and around 3-4 cups of water and mix well. Close the lid and secure it. Turn the valve to ‘sealing’ mode and cook in ‘manual’ for 8 minutes and Quick release after 5 mins. Serve with hot steamed rice. Enjoy!
